The first Wilson's Snipe 

I had the pleasure of viewing in my front yard

in Juneau, Alaska.  

What a treat, as it hung around for several days...

This Wilson's Snipe stood perfectly still
for several minutes during the crazy-rainy downpour.

Notice the water droplet at the end of its beak...

November 24, 2011: A BABY PORCUPINE CAME TO VISIT...

November 24, 2011 on Thanksgiving Day evening:

We drove into our yard and were surprised to find this baby porcupine in the driveway at about 9:00 p.m.  


It got scared and ran to hide from us in the 6' tall hedge tree under the eave of the house in the front yard...poor thing!   We left it alone after my husband captured this photograph, and it ran off shortly thereafter...

What a treat, and a cutie ;)
