MAY 15, 2016: Front Yard-Unseasonably Warm Wx...

May 15, 2016:

Front yard in unseasonably warm Southeast Alaskan weather...

An apple tree I planted 'ka-zillion' years ago, it seams,
has finally decided to bloom this year!

I'm in love at first sight...

A woodpecker arrived
for 'under bark' dinner.
..

Up close and personal,
thanks for a zoom lens...

June 23, 2015: Silly Robin...

June 23, 2015:

Silly Robin,
it's amazing when it puffs up
then relaxes back to its slender self...

May 7, 2013: Small Birds Arriving in Juneau, Alaska...

May 7, 2013:

Vibrantly beautiful birds
showed up in the yard today in Juneau, Alaska...

Dark-Headed Junco...

Gold-Crowned Sparrow...

Other Junco's also arrived today,
just loving it...

January 22, 2012: Two Bald Eagles Perched Atop an Evergreen Tree in Juneau, Alaska...

January 22, 2012:

I captured this outside of my home office window
at 11:30 a.m. Alaska Standard Time (AST)
of two bald Eagles that were perched
atop this evergreen tree for 4+ hours
in Juneau, Alaska..

October 13, 2012: A Wilson's Snipe in My Front Yard in Juneau, Alaska...

October 13, 2012:

The first Wilson's Snipe
I had the pleasure of viewing in my front yard
in Juneau, Alaska.

What a treat, as it hung around for several days...

This Wilson's Snipe stood perfectly still
for several minutes during the crazy-rainy downpour.

Notice the water droplet at the end of its beak..

August 19, 2012: A Couple of Feathered Friends on My Back Deck in Juneau, Alaska...

August 19, 2012:

Much to my delight,
a couple of friendly birds landed on my back deck
for a photoshoot...

A cute and petite Dark-Eyed Junco (Junko)...
A very colorful Varied Thrush
with 'an attitude'...

Just love its different poses...

One last pose before taking flight...

June 25, 2012: A Juvenile Bald Eagle Drying its Wings - and a Mature One Shows up Shortly Thereafter in Juneau, Alaska...

June 25, 2012:

A juvenile bald eagle drying its wings in Juneau, Alaska.
This took place for 3 hours during this overcast and rainy afternoon
atop an evergreen tree after fishing in the nearby creek,
and then an mature bald eagle showed up shortly thereafter...

Lifting it's wing for a final drying off
prior to taking flight...
The mature bald eagle that showed up 15 minutes
after the juvenile took flight...

June 16, 2012: A Dark-Eyed Junco stopped by for visit...

June 16, 2012:

I love it when different species of birds
stop by for a visit...

A Dark-Eyed Junco or Junko (aka "Snowbird")

This medium-sized sparrow has a pink beak,
a crisp color pattern,
and bright white tail feathers that flash when in flight...

April 1, 2012: First sighting of a Red-Breasted Sapsucker Woodpecker this spring...

April 1, 2012:

My first viewing of a red-breasted sapsucker woodpecker this year
who was kind enough to greet me this morning
by pecking on my fence (their mating ritual)...

May 20, 2011: A SILLY WOODPECKER HAS TAKEN A LIKING TO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD...

A Neighborly Red-Breasted Sapsucker Woodpecker...

This particular Woodpecker relentlessly pecks
on this hardy board holding a building permit sign
across the street from our house;
it's been at it off and on for months now!
If it's not pecking on this sign -
it's been doing so more often on a nearby neighbor's house,
and it's rather loud
(what NICE neighbors they are to have
the PATIENCE to put up with its incessant pecking!)
He pecks beginning in the wee hours of the morn
and often does so into the afternoon on most days.

May 10, 2011: ROBINS MEAN THE EXITING OF SPRING AND THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER...

I believe the first photograph is of the male,
and the second and third of females ~
These Robins (I know, boring to most ~
although it means spring is here ;)
were eating worms in our backyard today,
just after we spotted the Hairy Woodpecker...
