Our Alaska Hometown Adventure
in Yakutat...

Our glorious Yakutat sunset
viewed from our home

Cannon Beach,
oh how we missed thee...

After a bit of a stroll,
we arrived at Broken Bridge to spread my Dad's ashes;
couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to do so...

All good things must come to an end.

Here we're rounding Douglas Island (above),
then flying across Gastineau Channel (below)
via Alaska Airlines,
then approaching the Juneau runway...
Short but sweet.

We all can't wait to head back...

February 21, 2015:

Morning clam digging with family in
Juneau Alaska...

This heavy fog during the drive to the harbor
had us a bit worried about the upcoming boat ride...

Yes, the fog was incredibly dense...

Thank God the fog began to lift soon after our arrival...

We made it to shore...

Husband Max was the first to start digging...

Low-flying geese in front of brother Alan's boat...

and capture a sight such as this, I'm blessed in so many ways...

Beautiful
Yakutat, Alaska...

Mount Saint Elias
Mountain Range...

Cruzin' through
Canoe Pass...

I stayed behind while the guys were out fishing,
and captured this photograph of
Mount Saint Elias
mid-day through my Mother's living room window
(using a zoom lens, of course)...

After the guys returned on Tuesday from fishing,
Max and I went sightseeing prior to plane time
out to Cannon Beach
and came across numerous bald eagles
along the way before reaching Tawa Bridge...

Sunshine peaking through the evergreen trees
with ice fog hovering above the roadway...

There were coho present in the roadside creek,
which these eagles must have been fishing for,
as they're fanning their wings out to dry...

This eagle appears to be a mature juvenile
by the dark marking still on its crown...

A juvenile...

I absolutely fell in love
with this character,
he definitely had a
picturesque attitude to behold...

This was another bald eagle
perched on a nearby snow bank
that appeared to like
his photograph taken ~ lucky me...

Mount Saint Elias,
as viewed from Tawa Bridge...

Husband Max captured a few
stunning photographs as well...

I capture this incredible shot
of an area just before reaching Cannon Beach
(near the 1st cannon)...

Cannon Beach has to offer
before heading down to the shoreline...

in all its incredible glory...

One of the shelters
above Cannon Beach,
notice the ice fog above the snow top

in the background...

We happened upon
additional bald eagles
when returning to town...

We drove though the village
on our way to the

Yakutat Boat Harbor...

Of course,
Max had to take a walk down to the harbor,
just because...

A couple of locals
clam digging...

Once again,
we returned through the village
to head to my Mother's house, and then to the airport
while the sun was beginning to set...

Each and every place I have resided in
has its own beauty,
but my hometown of Yakutat
will always have a special place in my heart
as well as my husband Max's...

Scott was determined to take part in the

60 mph maximum speed, and 300' at the highest point from the ground
for a 1.5 minute ride time, with 6 side-by-side cables -
although it was to no avail
because they were not operating on that particular day...

November 14-16, 2011:

It's a beautiful place we live in here in Juneau, Alaska, especially with the constant changing seasons throughout the year...

We recently received over a foot of snow overnight...

Two days later the sun came out and the mountain
was covered with freshly fallen snow...

I captured this photograph at 12:00 p.m. AST
a couple of days after the recent snowfall...

Early November 2011:

My husband Max and his brother Steve's recent trip to Tok, Alaska to take supplies to Mielke properties...

Max began his journey, to meet his brother Steve who is working in Skagway,
via ferry with Steve's truck from Juneau to Skagway.
While beginning their trip, they happened upon this cow and calf...
A pit-stop in Canada east of Whitehorse...

They're finally in Alaska...

Snow is slowly making its way down the mountains,
and I wanted to capture a few fall photographs

April 10, 2011:

Our Sunday afternoon on the water here in Juneau, Alaska
where we experienced rain on departure, sunshine rounding
Gastineau Channel to the backside of Douglas Island,
and snow prior to entering Statter Harbor in Auke Bay ~
Overall, a good trip ~ including awesome moose burgers mid-trip ;)

This was in preparation for my husband Max's annual start-up of his
commercial power trolling trip, so yesterday we ran our 43'
F/V Chelsey from its winter moorage slip at Harris Harbor in Downtown Juneau
to Statter Harbor in Auke Bay where he departed for the waters in
Southeast Alaska early Monday morning...

We're off, departing Harris Harbor...

Nearing the exit of the breakwater,
and we'll be heading under the Juneau-Douglas Bridge...

A view of Downtown Juneau from Gastineau Channel
after passing under the Juneau-Douglas Bridge...

A view of South Douglas Island...

Sealaska Corporation and Merchant's Wharf buildings
along the downtown waterfront...

The State of Alaska and United States Coast Guard
buildings along the downtown waterfront...

The infamous Federal Building...

We're on-step now ~ here is a view of the
Juneau-Douglas Bridge...

South Douglas still...and this is when the rain
really started pouring...

just prior to Sandy Beach...

A spectacular waterfall above Thane Road...
Just below Thane road along the shoreline...

Black sea ducks called Scoters were in abundance today...

A sandy cove area south of Douglas...

Further down Thane Road in Juneau is where you'll come across
Sheep Creek and this beautiful sandy beach...

We happened upon this scene just past Thane
where numerous Scoters landed and were feeding...

Kind of looks like some type of small upland caves...

Nearing the time when we started veering around to the right
to enter the backside of  Douglas Island...

With all the crazy, albiet typical, Juneau weather we experienced,
we were lucky to be gifted with a beautiful rainbow...

We've rounded the turn and are on the backside of Douglas Island
and cruising to Auke Bay...

The beautiful Southeast Alaska scenery never ceases to amaze me
even on cloudy days...

The sunshine was trying to appear...

Yep...
Here comes the rain...

And, there goes the sun...

Well, there was also a bit of snow in the forecast
later in the afternoon
(We got it ;)...

Seagulls simply thrive in this inclement
Southeast Alaska rainforest...

A small cove before we started heading into
Statter Harbor in Auke Bay...

Now, this scene was simply breathtaking...

Yummo...
the moose burgers were just about finished cooking...

We were done eating lunch,
so we all kicked back and enjoyed the boat ride and scenery
while listening to mellow music...

A fairly large mudslide on the backside of Douglas Island...

We're nearing Statter Harbor in Auke Bay...
time to start packing up...
What a wonderful time with great company!

We drove my vehicle from Auke Bay to Harris Harbor to drop
Max off to get his pickup downtown, and this is how he passes off the pup Chelsey
to me while she was still sporting her life vest;
he said, "It's just like carrying a suitcase!" ~
Chelsey is in heaven and
right-at-home while aboard the F/V Chelsey cruising
with Dad, Mom, and Grandpa Ralph!

A very spectacular and beautiful day to be visiting Sitka...

March 20, 2011:

The evening was very breathtaking here in Juneau, Alaska...

These are photographs taken at 5:30 p.m. tonight when the sun was setting
on a mountain here in Juneau, Alaska,
which is a follow-up to the previous five I posted earlier this
morning taken at 7:30 a.m. below...
got to celebrate those rare moments while we have these sunny days
here in Southeast Alaska...

And, we were graced with the presence of a slivered moon
and stars beginning to show their appearance at 6:30 p.m. tonight as well...

March 6, 2011:

Finally, a much appreciated calm morning after experiencing
up to 80 mph extreme winds over the past week...
