March 14, 2013: Watching Wildlife Show Up After the Long Winter in Juneau, Alaska...

March 14, 2013:

A terrific day watching wildlife show up
after a long and hard winter
in Juneau, Alaska...

Tiny house finches
resting during a snow squall
on the branches of these alder trees...
A bald eagle perched in an evergreen tree
basking in the sunshine...
A colorful house finch appeared in the front yard
landing atop the small snow bank...
Can't help but think the poor darlin'
looks tired and sleepy...

July 20, 2012: Friday Evening Family BBQ in Juneau, Alaska...

July 20, 2012:

Friday evening family barbecue
in the rare sunshine this summer
in Juneau, Alaska...
At 5:00 p.m. the temperature
was hovering around
a blissful 75 degrees...

The wistful cloud formations
were out of this world...

A gentle breeze was blowing,
making this the perfect evening...

Chef Max at it again with
his special and perfectly sauced
Grilled Chicken Thighs ~ "Perfection"...

We all felt the jolt when a loud blast took place
at the nearby City and Borough Rock Quarry:
Here are the plumes rising shortly thereafter...

The sun just starting to set
behind the mountain
among very, very tall alder trees...

A perfect sunny evening with
family on our latest
Friday night get-together...

June 22, 2012: Family Friday Night BBQ in 80+ Degree Weather in Juneau, Alaska...

June 22, 2012:

Most every Friday evening the family visits
with my husband's father Ralph -
we so enjoy his company, listening to stories,
and much laughter was had by all.

Tonight was special because we were able to sit
out on his deck and BBQ steaks in 80+ degree weather
after experiencing such a rainy summer,
it was absolute bliss...

The sun
high in the sky at 5:00 p.m...
Very little snow remains
on the mountaintops...
Max testing to ensure the steaks
are medium rare...
Heinzleman Ridge
as viewed through very tall alders...
The sun at 7:30 p.m.
with much more time before it actually sets,
what a glorious day it has been,
and the forecast is for a couple more days of the same...
