A field of brilliant Alaska wildflowers

or "Lupines" (North America)...

Lupin (or a Lupine) among its
hairy green seed pods, to the left,
that turn a dark brown or black,

Chum Spawning in Fish Creek
in North Douglas [Juneau, Alaska]...

The view facing west from
Fish Creek Bridge...

All we were able to view
were these two lonely Chum Salmon
in Fish Creek from the bridge, which were trying

to swim up the creek in only a couple of inches of water...

July 28, 2012: Chum Spawning in Salmon Creek in Juneau, Alaska...

July 28, 2012:

An amazing amount of Chum
(aka Dog Salmon; Market Name: Northern Keta)
swimming up Salmon Creek
to spawn in Juneau, Alaska ~ We did not, however,
see many Humpies
(aka Pink Salmon; Market Name: Pacific Royal Pink Salmon)...

These are rather large Chum Salmon
swimming up the creek
in just a couple of inches of water...

A Black-Headed Gull
heading down for its dive
seeking Chum eggs...

No shortage of Seagulls
and Black-Headed Gulls
all seeking to eat their fill...

A Black-Headed Gull
in dive-mode
with its head underwater
for Chum eggs...

The same Black-Headed Gull
resurfacing with a
Chum egg...

These Black-Headed Gulls
are rather beautiful
and fascinating to watch while in flight.

Couple of sea otters...
The right species this time...

Not a jellyfish,
but called "Cephs" by Southeast Alaska commercial fishermen,
which is a shortened term for an octopus cephalopod vulgaris,
i.e., baby octopus larvae

Fantastic day fishin'...
Yo, Jim ~
and thanks to Captain Bruce!
A fun and successful trip was had by all,
