Capturing some of the majestic beauty only found in Yakutat, Alaska.

It's simply never ending...

The phenomenal beauty and ambiance of
Cannon Beach never lets us down...

At the head of the lake along the shoreline
(viewed from our back deck)
these bald eagles fighting over lunch consisting of an unlucky green-head mallard...

Main purpose of this trip was to
work on making our newly purchased home-away-from-home homier
(the AFTER photograph of our beginning efforts)...

May 6, 2013: Lucky Day Netting A Dungeness Crab in the Shallows...

May 6, 2013:

My husband and I went fishing in our skiff for king salmon,
although we ended up netting a
dungeness crab instead in Juneau, Alaska...

We spotted this dungeness crab crawling along the shallows of the harbor
shortly after launching the skiff...

After two attempts with it crawling like crazy and the wind catching the boat
- we successfully netted it...

I told my husband, "The crab is crawling under the floorboard,
you better grab it." He said, "Don't worry, it has nowhere to go;
I don't want to get pinched"...

Super rainy day,
with the sun trying to appear...

calling its mate that's fishing nearby...

Pigeon Guillemot...

Max spotted salmon fry near the shoreline,
and shortly thereafter so did this bald eagle...

He was lucky and took flight
while grabbing a salmon fry in its talons...

Promise of spring, albeit late, is the sprouting of skunk cabbage
(and its unique odor) everywhere...

And, the story continues...I hated to tell Max, "Told ya so!"
We ended up having to use a camera to locate this bugger
under the floorboard of the skiff,
then a coat hanger to fish it out once we arrive back home...

The fresh dungeness crab made for a mighty fine
recipe creation that I so enjoyed preparing, consisting of a tasty

May 28 and 29, 2011:

Our seventh and eighth days fishing the Spring King Salmon Derby the month of May in Juneau, Alaska aboard our F/V Chelsey in the southern waters of Juneau, Alaska during overcast days...

DuPont Dock in Gastineau Channel...

A Bald Eagle after a small cod fish that was tossed in the water...

Alaska State Troopers checking fishing licenses, which we held up, and then they were on their way to the next boat...

A Bald Eagle on the point...

A barge wreckage on the shore where we tided up the F/V Chelsey for the night, and just after anchoring her we saw a black bear on the beach, although it was too far away to photograph...

We were up at 3:30 a.m., and Captain Max is starting the engines getting ready to pull anchor to start our second day fishing...

A Bald Eagle is up early hoping to catch a fish too...

Brother Steve letting us know he's on the fishing grounds today...

Geese flying over head...

We didn't have any luck catching King Salmon these two days ~ the fish just were not biting...we caught our fair share of small cod though...

Lil' Miss Chelsey our 3-yr.-old maltepoo is right at home aboard the boat in her life vest...her tiny feet are all wet, but she's lovin' every minute of it...
