June 10, 2012: On the water with family in Juneau, Alaska...

June 10, 2012:

We enjoyed our Sunday with family
out on the water in Juneau, Alaska
trying to catch a king salmon and a rainy day.

No luck catching a king salmon,
although we had a fabulous lunch while
laughing and telling stories...

Heading out of the harbor...

A bald eagle in a tree on the point,
and it was perched there for hours...

A couple of geese
flying overhead...

A Scoter popped
up for a visit...
A soaring bald eagle...

Alaska Seaplane...
A couple of beagles ran quite the distance
along the shoreline; they were all alone
and appeared to be on a mission of some sort

before heading into the trees above...

We thought they had a fish on,
but no go...
Slow day fishing for everyone,
never saw anyone (including us)

hook a king salmon today...
This bald eagle was in this tree
for a hour and a half before it took flight.

What a fabulous day we all had!!

August 13, 2010: Max and my last derby fishing trip for the summer...

This is my last boat outing while fishing the derby on August 13, 2010 with my husband aboard the F/V Chelsey this year (as he had to go back commercial power trolling)...you will probably notice that we didn't have much luck fishing, although it was a serene day on the water, so we kicked back and enjoyed all the splendid beauty this fine day offered us north of Juneau...

Max's cousin Carl appeared behind us.
He was heading out to the derby grounds as well...

Auke Bay...

Max's cousin Carl slowed down to say hello, and then charged past us,
as we were fishing from our commercial  boat this time around...

Beautiful Auke Rec -
What great memories we've made here over the years...

Serene Indian Cove and its dock...

The new NOAA Facility
recently built here in Juneau...

Another view of the new NOAA Facility...

Auke Bay recreator having a blast...

We caught three salmon
so we weren't skunked anyway...

Another view of Auke Bay...

Nearly approaching Auke Rec.
People are fishing along its point...

Our friends Ole and Karen also fishing
the derby who stopped to chat...

Max's brother Steve heading through the pass to Statter Harbor
after stopping to tell us his derby stories for the day...

A wonderful day out on the water has made for fond memories,
and we'll now be looking forward to
fishing the derby once again in 2011...
