January 9, 2010: MY FATHER IN LAW IS TALENTED...VIEW A COUPLE OF HIS "BEAR BREAD" ARTWORK PIECES BELOW...

January 9, 2011:

My husband Max found this "Bear Bread" under the damp, fall canopy of Southeast Alaska's rainforest where the fungi proliferate during his last hunting trip in Southeast Alaska. This spectacular-looking fungus, after it was harvested was heavy with moisture, so we dried it out until it was very light in weight, and then his father Ralph painted this exquisite scene...what talent!

(Ralph Mielke's bear bread paintings, and prints of his original oil paintings
can be viewed and purchased at this local establishment in Juneau, Alaska: http://www.homespunmercantile.com/)

This is the finished painting by my father in law on the
bear bread once it sufficiently -
what talent he has...

This is another specimen of "Bear Bread"
that is is a work-in-progress
by Ralph who let me in his studio
to snap a photograph ~
I just love the feelings these paintings evoke -
notice the cabin off to the right...

December 2010: Bear Bread my Husband Harvested in early December 2010 while on a Deer Hunting Trip...

My husband found this "Bear Bread" under the damp, fall canopy of Southeast Alaska's rainforest where the fungi proliferate.

Here's a spectacular-looking fungus.
We harvest them when they are heavy with moisture,
dry them until they are very light in weight,
and paint on the smoother front side...
