May 7, 2011:
Our first day fishing the Spring King Salmon Derby
the month of May in Juneau, Alaska from our skiff...
A nice deer we happened upon while driving out the road... |
What a beautiful day to be out on the water... |
Impatiently waiting for that elusive King Salmon to bite the hook... |
A single Marbled Murrelet... |
I caught the first King Salmon of the day (about 17 lbs.)... |
Max caught the next King Salmon (over 40 lbs. in the round)... |
A Land Otter (or sometimes called River Otter) keeping an eye on us... |
This Marbled Murrelet just surfaced after feeding on herring... |
A Scoter riding the surf swell... |
Max holding up the 1st Place King Salmon (he held the lead until 5-30-11)... |
The King Salmon per regulations are required to be dressed before weighing them in... |
Max weighing in his King Salmon at Jerry's Meats... |
It was one huge King Salmon... |
Compared to mine ;) |
This shows what a difference a few pounds make between our two king salmon... |
Max was one happy fisherman... |
Our King Salmon on ice (Max's fish barely fits in this large cooler ;)... |
Our lil' Miss Chelsey was happy to finally have us home from our long day of fishing... |
This was one heck of a day fishing, and in the great company of my husband. It was a bonus that we were both able to catch King Salmon - even though his was quite a bit larger than mine ;)
