December 30, 2010: LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW...

On December 30, 2010, it is 29 degrees and currently snowing.  What a beautiful day here in the Capital City of Juneau, Alaska.  There is a winter advisory in effect until 5:00 a.m. Alaska Standard Time tomorrow for up to four inches of snow today, and 14 more inches tonight...

We currently had about 6 to 7 inches of snow accumulation this morning ~ so far this winter in 2010 it has been fairly mild for Juneau ~ Although here it comes tonight ~

Our fire pit in the front yard looks pretty cold and lonely. Perhaps we'll have to stoke a fire up in it one of these evenings.  Of course, while sipping on hot buttered rums ~ now that's a novel idea...

This is a view from my backyard -
The mountain in the foreground is blocked by the falling snow...

My poor fireweed that propagated in my backyard last year is holding its own. How nice it is that I am able to make Alaska Fireweed and Clover Honey with wild plants picked from my own yard ~ This never ceases to amaze me...

Side yard evergreen trees are heavily laden with snow ~ such a beautiful sight that quickly changes when the winds blow the snow off of the branches,
or the rain melts it...

A very Happy New Year in 2011 to all
