July 24, 2012: Birds of a Feather Flock Together...

July 24, 2012:

Many species of birds came to visit
while I was working in my yard in Juneau, Alaska today,
although I was only able to capture
a few photographs of them...

[Special thanks to Connie for assisting me in identifying them]

A vibrant Varied Thrush (male)...
An early arrival of a somewhat rare Cedar Waxwing
(the Bohemian species have a orange hue under the tail vs white),
a treat to view such a beautiful species

that normally tends to arrive here in Juneau in the fall...

A mature Dark-Eyed Junco (Junko) that has
a seed in its mouth...

A male Red-Breasted Sapsucker Woodpecker
tapping for its mate...
A female Red-Breasted Sapsucker Woodpecker
posturing and answering the male...
Another female is feeling ousted,
her look says it all...
