DECEMBER 2010:
Successful Deer Hunting Trip in Southeast Alaska...
Credits to my Husband for taking his camera along during his and a friend's recent hunting trip in Southeast Alaska...

A small doe on the beach they chased into the woods because they didn't want someone else to shoot the poor thing...

They're going in to chase the same doe off the beach...

The new *Realtree Spruce Camo/Headlight Hat Combo*...(for more information on this new product, contact Randy or Max ~ believe it or not...it's their own design)....

Max's good friend and hunting partner Randy...

Just heading into one of their *Top Secret* deer hunting locations...

Believe it or not ~ Max was knocking a bear bread fungus off of a tree for his Dad to paint a deer on when this buck snorted at him...all was said and done; that is where he fell...

Max was dragging the buck out when he met Randy in a meadow...Randy said, "I'll drag it out for you; keep hunting!"...

So, this was the next buck Max came upon...he said, "I was very lucky!"...

Same second buck ~ heading down to the beach...

Bucks loaded up heading back to camp...

Look at how clear the water is...you can see the rocks on the bottom...

Randy steering them back to camp...it was colder out than it looks...

Max was talking to their buddy Dave on the radio...

An eagle they happened upon...

Two bucks in the four-wheeler cart - ready for transport to the hanging shed...

Beautiful waterfall...

Survival gear that they leave on the beach when they go hunting just in case they get stuck...

600' of ground line they used for attaching to an anchor with a 40 lb. cannon ball attached to a pully to pull the skiff in/out with...

Sea lions frolicking...

Sea lions still having fun in the winter waters...
1 of 11 deer they called up using the *deer call* their last two days in the woods...

Another big doe coming to the call...darn it!...

They were being charged by 3 deer at once...
Close encounter...Randy actually had this fawn sniff his hand and touch his glove; Max had a doe on the other side 3-4' away doing the same thing ~ it's a *Bambi*...

Another buck down...

Max says, "This one measured about 25 inches; not a monster, but still pretty nice"...

Randy with a nice buck...this one was shot right next to a *buck rub*...

Max says, "Nice Rack?" ~ or ~ "Nice Tongue?"...

Heading back to camp...Randy coiling the rope...

Alaska Seaplanes on approach...

Randy checking in from camp giving a *Full Report*...

Max and Randy's good friend Dave who has been kind enough to let them stay at his awesome place over the years...

Max with Dave at the meat shed ~ bucks hanging!...

Southeast Alaska ravens hanging out around the campfire just staying warm ~
end of the hunting trip...more next year ~ we hope!

November 2010:
My husband just went hunting with his Son Matt for the day last weekend in November at their secret spot in Southeast Alaska ~ They didn't kill a huge monster buck, although this one will definitely do...
"Meat on the table"...Max says, "The big ones always get away"

October 2010 Southeast Alaska Hunting Trip:
He was able to use his newly won shotgun to get  goose and a few ducks...(no luck getting a bull moose, although he had a great trip and saw a lot of cows) ~
Thankfully he took a few photographs to share with us...
A moonlit night
shortly after his arrival...

Beautiful country...

The mountains are
absolutely spectacular...

A bald eagle's favorite spot,
as you'll see in two more
photographs coming up...

A cow and her calf,
along with a couple more to follow...

Brother Larry showing Max
the power of his new jet motor...

Max is sporting his new shotgun
he won from Ducks Unlimited
just prior to this hunting trip,
and he shot a goose - Yay!
~ Plus and a couple of ducks he didn't take photographs of ~

Brother Larry is sure happy
with his new jet motor...

What spectacular and pristine beauty
- A person just can't find this
splendor anywhere else...

Brother Larry plucking Max's Goose
- What a guy!

The bald eagle's look-out tree
- It's no wonder because of its
phenomenal view of the
mountains, moon, sunset, trees, clouds,
and Max...

Max was asking,
"Where's your boyfriend?"

This is Johnson Slough
where the old train tracks
used to lead to the fish buying
operation years ago...

Four swans
heading south for the winter...

I asked Max if he captured any bull moose photographs, and he said,
"No, I wouldn't have taken pictures
because I would've shot it instead,
and then took pictures!"
- (Duh...I should've known ;)

A fantastic trip, and hopefully they'll
have better luck
getting a moose next year...
October 9, 2010:
Max says, "I am a very lucky guy. I bought four $20 tickets and was the winner of this $1300 Winchester super x 3 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun from the Ducks Unlimited Banquet last night [10-9-10 in Juneau, Alaska] - and I was the winner of the drawing - Yahoo!"

2009 Moose Hunt:
My husband, Max and his brothers-in-law Larry and Kevin had a successful moose hunt last year in 2009, in Southeast Alaska...(couldn't have wished for nicer weather).  Yeah!  Our winter meat supply was complete, including several family members that we shared with as well -- "mucho thanks" to brother Dean and his wife Chantil for ensuring all went smoothly 'post hunt'...
